Eprapah - Charles S. Snow Environment Centre Billabong Track

Entry to the Billabong Track may be made from behind the Bunkhouse, or from the Campground to follow a rope handrail beside which is being established a senses trail. If entered from the latter point, stand back to look for an arboreal termites' nest which at times also hosts a brushtail possum. The track leads to a billabong with an observation platform recommended for quiet contemplation. Scouts and Landcare groups are interested in water quality, and use this site as one of their water-testing venues. Water quality indicates the health of the environment, and the abundance of aquatic life in Eprapah Creek shows that it is quite healthy, although phosphate pollution and the build-up of rubbish need to be prevented in order to maintain this status. Refer to the booklets "The Freshwater Environment" and "Flora and Fauna of Eprapah Creek" for a guide to the aquatic life. If you are interested in improving or maintaining the health of Eprapah Creek's catchment, contact the Eprapah Creek Catchment Landcare Association (07 3378 4115; 0411 145 053; 0412 659 918) or The Friends of Eprapah (07 3378 4115).
